A Vivid Glimpse At Hell

Matthew 13:49-50: So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, 50 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

During a recent hospitalization a woman gave me and 15 or 20 others a sample of what Hell and the Lake of Fire will be like. In about 36 hours she set up a pitiful wailing such as I have never heard. No one in the room got anything close to a night*s rest. Everyone in the room went back and forth from feeling sorry for her to being angry with her. One woman shouted at her to shut up! Just about the only times the woman was quiet were when she ran out of breath or was so exhausted she would fall asleep for a few moments.

A few of her wailings and moaning and groaning. Help me! My back hurts! My legs hurt! Please help me! O-o-o-o-h! I am in so-o-o-o much pain! Her pain was real. She was given the maximum of two powerful pain killers but it was not enough to get rid of the pain. It seemed that she wanted them every half-hour and not just every four hours. She had missed more than one dialysis treatment and her body was filling up with poisons. I never heard the reason that she had missed her dialysis. The caregivers were trying their best to get her stabilized enough to get the dialysis. I have heard that dialysis does not work if one*s blood pressure is unstable.

I happened to be in the bed next to hers with a curtain between. I prayed for her and wanted to share Christ with her. Several times I asked her if she could hear me. For many hours I thought she was deaf. She ignored my question because she knew that I was not the person who could bring her a pain pill. When the caregivers spoke with her, she heard every word they said. After I realized that she was not deaf I told her several times that she needed to invite Jesus into her heart and ask Him to help her. After I repeated that several times, she finally got quiet for a few seconds. Then she asked the nurse to call her boyfriend. When she spoke with the gentleman I got the idea that he couldn*t handle the wailing either.

When she returned to her wailing she then sprinkled in the words: God help me and Jesus help me! But I fear those were not prayers of faith or humility. I got a glimpse of the woman once when I was walking around and the front of her curtain was open. I was shocked. I expected to see a scrawny little prune. She was a big strong looking woman and probably younger than me. Her whimpering and wailing had sounded like they were coming from a tiny little weakling.

During all the wailing I had the thought that this is what Hell and the Lake of Fire will be like. I was very thankful that I am not going there. I tried to imagine what it would be like to be surrounded by millions of people wailing. I tried to imagine what it would be like if I was one of them. I wondered that some my loved ones and friends might go there. I was very thankful that I only got a glimpse at Hell for about a day and a half.

I wondered how many times the woman might have rejected Christ. I wondered if she was already in Hell. I wondered if she was dead while she liveth.

1 Timothy 5:6: But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.

Please pray for that woman! And please do everything in your power to prevent people from going to Hell. Pray for them, pray for evangelists and support them. Study your Bible. Learn to share the gospel. Witness to everyone that you possibly can about the love of God.
